What's up?

This entry is a little bleak, and I apologize - but there are a lot of signs pointing to the obvious.

My life is good - my husband and I are happy right now, we've got 2 rowdy pups who make us smile. The bills are under control. We're exercising.

BUT I go into a fast thinking mode sometimes - and I probably shouldn't.

When hurricane Ike went through this week - I saw gas prices in my area jump by $1 in some cases, and people were literally in a panic.

My take on this is - everyone is expecting something to happen. We're not sure what it will be, to which magnitude, but 7 years after 9/11, something eventually will happen.

There is a reason that Russia's Putin is teaching judo to the president of France. There is a reason the Russian Navy is doing training in Venezuela and starting another port in the Middle East. Do not be deceived. Do not be surprised.

Think about our country of America. We are stretched - to the limits. People are losing their homes, the mortgage companies and banks are in a mess. People have continued to live paycheck to paycheck - and buy even more stuff, on credit. We've been at war in Afganistan and Iraq for years now. Yet, on the surface - it's all good.

People don't want to wake up.

It's going to take a couple of tragedies to bring the US to our knees - the hurricane Ike shows how much of a delicate balance we are on - it also shows the there are people/organizations who will continue to profit.

Based on previous history alone, look for some country to start being more aggressive towards the US. We are not as strong as we used to be. We are not united. We are not prepared.

Like the run for gas because of Hurricane Ike, if there is a problem that affects the US you will also see a run on groceries. Go ahead and get some extra stuff while you're at the store. Just a few extra cans of soup and vegetables.

Word came out today that the refineries will be closed for one week, maybe longer. Gas prices will go up - try to find a way to carpool this week, or use less gas this week.

These are some small things you can do to prepare your house. If nothing ever does happen, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Be safe children.
